HISTORY OF TERRY BRYAN FITNESS

Terry Bryan Fitness was founded in1993 by its namesake, Terry Bryan. Since its inception 28 years ago Terry Bryan Fitness has been instrumental in helping thousands of clients turn their lives around for the better.

Terry’s personal story is one of inspiration and perseverance. Terry was a student at Thomas More College in Northern Kentucky in the 1980s and later received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati when he decided to relocate out west.

In California he discovered a penchant for weightlifting; however, he received significant news which could have singlehandedly destroyed most people. Terry’s father had horrifically committed suicide without warning.

This type of life altering event, often, leaves those in its wake unable to cope and they turn to negative behaviors to numb or survive the pain and loss. Terry chose a much different path. He went on to develop a true passion for powerlifting and found the adrenaline and physical satisfaction of sessions helped him process the emotional pain of his father’s death.

Every time he experienced negative feelings or painful memories, Terry turned to the gym for strength and the ability to walk through the darkness. Throughout this healing process, Terry fell in love with powerlifting and began to compete. What was originally a hobby, turned into a semi-professional career taking him to events across the nation where he won back-to-back strong man competitions. He retains a world record – squatting 1100 pounds, which has yet to be broken.

After completing an internship with Meterex Supplement Company Terry decided to return to the Tri-State to open his own gym in 1993. And the rest as they say, is history.
